I did love Lubec, West Quoddy Head Light is my favorite place I have been so far.Christopher Setterlundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16670908577706903774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-689576615780782884.post-66303254459540134812011-01-07T22:39:51.611-05:002011-01-07T22:39:51.611-05:00Glad you enjoyed Lubec. I do want to point out that standing by West Quoddy Head Lighthouse looking east out to sea, you are looking at Grand Manan Island about 10 miles away. To your left (north), around the point, you can see Campobello Island.

Some of us like to think that Lubec was a Passamaquoddy name referring to the Narrows between Lubec and Campobello, which just happened to sound like the German city name.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02690473413785284573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-689576615780782884.post-31511596587225010322011-01-01T11:11:25.843-05:002011-01-01T11:11:25.843-05:00Hi Chessie, I wish I had known that while I was up...Hi Chessie, I wish I had known that while I was up there. I thought that if I showed the border guards that I was a travel writer they might let me pass but did not want to risk it. That will be another trip for another day.Christopher Setterlundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16670908577706903774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-689576615780782884.post-26288784326249707822011-01-01T10:48:54.674-05:002011-01-01T10:48:54.674-05:00I am sorry you did not visit Campobello Island, as...I am sorry you did not visit Campobello Island, as it is truly beautiful ( http://sunriseoncampobello.com )

If you stop at the US border, they will let you back into the US without any hassle. They 'have to' let you back into the US as you are a citizen.

On the Canadian side, there is rarely problems entering--maybe a fire arms or liqueur / leaving anything questions.

The US side will let you have a 'day pass' if you stop by first, then only scold you if you drive over without asking them.

Campobello Island is truly beautiful, a destination not to miss.

chessieChessie Crowe Gartmayerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00053160004256677228noreply@blogger.com
