The debut of The Muppet Show. Some of the music fails of the 1970s. A school bus that acts like a dog?

Summer is ending, but the Gen-X nostalgia continues with Episode 260.

We start off with a look back to the debut of the original Muppet Show, which occurred 50 years ago this month. Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, and so many more classic characters burst onto television sets and became cultural icons. This segment gives an overview and is only the beginning of the Muppet content.

A school bus that acts like a dog? What sort of acid trip created that idea? Who knows. What we do know is that this is the main plot behind the odd 1970s educational short film The Big Yellow Fellow. We will review this insanity and see if there are any valuable lessons to be learned.

The 1970s had some amazing music. From Led Zeppelin to Pink Floyd, all four Beatles' solo work, and more. This week's Top 5 will have none of them. Instead, we will look at some of the biggest musical fails of the 1970s. Lots of bad music and bad choices abound.

There is also a brand new This Week In History and Time Capsule looking back at the life and career of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur 30 years after his death.

It begins with a look back at a show that only lasted a short time but left a big imprint on a lot of GenXers. BrainGames was a revelation in children's education. The HBO show lasted a whopping 6 episodes, yet somehow is still fondly remembered to this day by many who saw it. We look at why this little show had a big impact.

30 years ago this week, an indie band with a cult following released their breakout hit song. Unfortunately, it came shortly after their lead singer had lost his life. The band was Sublime, and the singer was Bradley Nowell. On this anniversary, we do a deep dive into the rise, fall, and full-circle rebirth of one of the most popular bands of the mid-1990s.

What in the world was a Yuppie? What are some of the beloved 1990s educational children's TV shows? What television show themes were also chart hits?

Episode 243 brings the May flowers and the GenX nostalgia.

It begins with an answer to the question of what a Yuppie was. Synonymous with the 1980s, Yuppies were of a certain mold and lifestyle. They dominated the landscape of America for a few years and slowly faded away. We dive deep into their reign in the 1980s.

Barney, Bill Nye, Blue's Clues. These and more made up the must-see list of educational children's shows of the 1990s. It was a decade dotted with familiar favorites, soon to be legends, and oddities that screamed 90s.

The new Top 5 looks at some of the television show theme songs that made waves on the music charts. Hit shows, forgotten favorites, middling, and downright terrible shows. Somehow, these themes became hits.

This Week In History and Time Capsule looks back to the first-ever spam email, the bane of many people's existence.
