Episode 256 is a bit of a throwback for the podcast as it is loaded with Cape Cod topics.

We start by going back 40 years ago this week. One Crazy Summer is among the best mindlessly fun comedies of the 1980s. It wasn't a major box office or critical hit, but it did have one thing that made it special, and that was a deep connection to Cape Cod. Watching it today is like opening up an old photo album for Cape Codders who grew up during that time. We celebrate the 40th anniversary of One Crazy Summer this week.

Today it can feel as though cell phone technology has been around forever. In some ways that is true, but in other ways it's still relatively new. We go way back to the beginning and trace the evolution of cellular telephone technology. From World War II to Y2K and all of the bumps and detours, we look at just how cell phones became the indispensable part of life that they are today.

Cape Cod dominates this week's Top 5. We look at some of the films that were shot on Cape Cod or the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. There are a few obvious ones, and some that might surprise you. We'll go over them all, good, bad, and very bad.

As always, there is a brand-new This Week In History and Time Capsule, looking at the creation of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.

Episode 218 ends spooky season with a bang and a scream.

It all begins with a look at two iconic horror franchises that ultimately flopped on television. A Nightmare on Elm Street crossed into TV with Freddy's Nightmares, while Friday the 13th had a show of the same name. Though powerhouse films in the 1980s, the TV shows didn't fare as well. We'll look at both shows and some about why they did not succeed.

Many horrific true crime stories spring to mind when thinking of the worst of the worst. For this segment, we are going to go deeper and look at some of the lesser-known but just as terrifying true crime cases of the 20th century. Some might be familiar, some new to you, but they are all equally disturbing.

Animals can be cute and cuddly, but many are extremely dangerous. In this week's Top 5, we will look at some of the craziest wild animal attacks ever.

There is, as always, a brand new This Week In History and Time Capsule looking at the life of beloved actor John Candy.

In My Footsteps Podcast Episode 201: Jaws 50th Anniversary, Polybius Video Game Urban Legend, Traumatizing 'Very Special' TV Episodes(6-25-2025)

The anniversary of one of the greatest films ever made. An urban legend surrounding a video game that was likely never made. Television episodes that traumatized 80s kids.

Episode 201 kicks off summer with Gen-X nostalgia to keep you entertained while soaking in the sun.

It begins by scaring you out of the water as we look back at the classic movie Jaws for its 50th anniversary. A killer shark stalks beachgoers and, in doing so, creates the 'summer blockbuster' movie. We do a deep dive into the origins of the film and what makes it stand the test of time so well.

We go way back in the day and down a rabbit hole as we look for the origins of a lesser-known 80s urban legend. Polybius was a video game that was said to cause mental and physical issues for its players, but did it exist at all? That is the question that we try to find the answer to.

Childhood trauma is on the menu in this week's Top 5. Sitcoms are supposed to make us laugh. In the 1980s and 1990s, though they terrified us every now and then. These were the 'very special' television episodes that tackled more serious issues. We will go through some and open up old wounds.
